Ronald G. Calvert

November 3, 1935 ~ March 4, 2018 (age 82)


Ronald “Runt” Glenn Calvert Sr., 82, of Armuchee lost his battle with dementia on Sunday, March 4, 2018. He was born on November 11, 1935 to the late Ralph Spencer Calvert and Mary Magdalene Cox of Sheridan, Indiana. He retired from Florida Tile. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Larry Dean Calvert; his daughter, Vicky Lynn Johnson; and his grandson, William Lonnie Garrett.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 37 years, Loretta Joyce Taylor Calvert of Armuchee; his sons, Larry (Dena) Johnson and Ronald (Angie) Calvert Jr.; his daughters, Kay (Bryan) Dostart, Sheila (Josh) Ray and Tammy Carroll; his brothers, Dorsey (Joan) Calvert and Doran (Mary) Calvert; his 6 beloved sisters, Jesslyn Sutton, Cleora Kouns, Cleta Stapleton, Patty (Dale) Ogle, Marilyn (Dick) Roberts and Rita (Chuck) Barker; his grandchildren, Amber, Tabitha, Becky, Jaime, Jake, Christy, Megan and Jessie; and 13 great grandchildren and one great great-grandson, 20 nephews, 11 nieces and several great nephews and nieces; Special care-giver Crystal Carver and many special friends including his much loved cat, Molly.

Ronald served his country as a proud US Marine. He was an avid fisherman and motorcycle enthusiast. He loved building and creating things with his sharp mind and talented hands. He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them. He was a member of First Christian Church Disciples of Christ in Sheridan, Indiana.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, March 9, 2018 at 6:00 pm at Oaknoll Chapel. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm until the service hour. At other times, the family will receive friends at 11 Border Road.
